Dunn’s River Falls – A Different Approach
My wife and I had already been to Dunn’s River Fall’s a few years back, with a tour operator. As much as we loved the falls and the beautiful beach. We were part of a group of around 20 people. The tour guide insists on everyone in the group hold hands in a long line which we didn’t really enjoy.
We didn’t spend much time in the sea and the day felt rushed.
Doing Things Our Own Way
This year we decided that we wanted to things our own way and it was so much better. Staying in the Riu Reggae in Montego Bay which was a really nice hotel. The local taxi service at reception provided a service that allowed us to go to Dunnes River Falls. It worked out around the same price as what the TUI rep was charging.
We left around 9.30am and stayed until around 2.30pm. Our taxi driver took a cooler box along and took us straight to the ticket office and got us in straight away.
We made our way down to the beach and set up our towels and had a lovely day. It was so nice to swim in the sea where the river meets the sea. You feel the cold river meet the warm Caribbean Sea. It’s so refreshing.
We felt completely safe and everyone was really friendly.
We saw large groups come and go all day long. Holding hands making their way up. We went up by ourselves and where fine. We took plenty of pictures. My wife even washed her hair. A little bit naughty with the soap but it was a one-off.
All in all, it was a great day and if you can maybe try and visit the same way we did you won’t regret it.
